Food Carts, Mobile Units and Shaved Ice Stands
Due to the large volume of applications for food trucks, food carts, and food trailers, new applications are not being accepted by the Salt Lake County Health Department. A waiting list has been established to serve future applicants on a first come first serve basis. Before being placed on the waiting list you must first download and read the guidelines and requirements for your type of business (see the links below). To get on the waiting list please call the Food Protection Office at 385-468-3845. If you are placed on the waiting list today, the anticipated wait time is at least 8 weeks.
Before purchasing or constructing a food cart, mobile food vehicle, or shaved ice stand, please contact the Salt Lake Valley Health Department AND the city or municipality in which you wish to operate to determine if your type of business is allowed.
All food carts, mobile food units and shaved ice stands are required to use a commissary. Permits will not be issued and plan reviews will not be signed off until an approved commissary is verified.
